Mechanism of Action

Atrazine belongs to the triazine group of herbicides, working through a systemic mode of action. Upon application, it is absorbed predominantly through the roots and rapidly translocated to leaves and growing meristems. Once absorbed, Atrazine disrupts the weed’s photosynthesis process by inhibiting electron transport, effectively starving and eliminating weed growth.

Recommended Dosage and Application

Application Guidelines:

• Atrazine must be applied either before or immediately after weed emergence.

• Soil surfaces should ideally be smooth and free from large clods.

• If dry conditions persist 7-15 days after application, weeds might still emerge. Light cultivation using a rotary cultivator is recommended to incorporate the product into the top 10-20 mm of the soil and manage emerged weeds.

• Apply only when maize has reached at least 30 cm in height to optimize herbicide placement and efficacy.

• For optimal effectiveness, weeds should not exceed 10 cm in height at the time of application.

Technical Requirements for Optimal Use:

• Apply Atrazine either before sowing summer maize or immediately after sowing, using a mixture of 750 kg water per hectare to ensure uniform soil coverage.

• Do not re-spray the treated area or miss any spraying sections, as this can reduce efficacy.
